Alison is an experienced Lawyer and heads the firm's Probate department at our Bedale office.

Alison was admitted as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1998.

 

With considerable experience specialising in the area of Probate and Succession law, Alison is able to deal with a wide range of private client matters, including the drafting of both simple and complex wills, agricultural matters and the administration of estates. She is also able to advise clients on tax and estate planning in a variety of individual circumstances.

 

To further her academic career Alison successfully passed the examinations to qualify as a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) in 2001. This is a respected worldwide professional organisation whose members include accountants and lawyers specialising in trusts and taxation.

 

Alison also advises elderly clients, which is an area of work she particularly enjoys and in which she has now become highly specialised. Having been a member of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) since 2003, an organisation which promotes advice to the Elderly and vulnerable people, Alison undertakes a considerable amount of work in relation to Lasting Powers of Attorney and the Court of Protection and provides advice on such matters as financial responsibility and funding criteria for long term care. She receives referrals from charitable organisations such as Age UK and The Alzheimers Society.
